Anemia: Symptoms, types, treatment, causes, diet, and more - adil's tutorial

When the level of hemoglobin in the blood falls below normal, it is called anemia.  Hemoglobin is a special pigment of blood.  Its main function is to supply oxygen to different parts of the body.  Hemoglobin is present in red blood cells.  It can also cause anemia due to decreased red blood cells.

 Why is anemia?

➤Anemia is not actually a disease, but a symptom of the disease.  Anemia can be caused by various reasons.  Iron is one of the main raw materials for making blood hemoglobin.  Lack of iron in the body can lead to anemia.  This is called iron deficiency anemia.  Iron deficiency anemia in medical terms.  In addition, lack of vitamin B and folic acid, long-term certain diseases (such as kidney failure), certain infections (such as tuberculosis), blood cancer, thalassemia, thyroid hormone problems, blood-producing marrow problems, spontaneous breakdown of red blood cells, bleeding.  Anemia occurs due to etc.

Among the various types of anemia, iron deficiency anemia has the highest rate.  Especially in poor third world countries.  Its rate is higher in women than in men.  A 2012 study showed that 70 percent of women in Bangladesh suffer from anemia at various stages of life.  Bangladesh women have the highest incidence of iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy.  Maternal mortality rate increases due to this anemia.  Its rate is also quite high among children.

 Why does iron deficiency occur?

➤Malnutrition is the main cause of iron deficiency.  Iron deficiency occurs when there is not enough iron in the diet.  Extra iron is needed during pregnancy and growing children.  But it can be seen that pregnant mothers in our country are not fed enough nutritious food.  Even in rural areas, pregnant mothers are allowed to eat less because of ignorance.  Apart from this, there is another reason why women suffer from iron deficiency.  That is extra menstruation.  Iron deficiency occurs when there is prolonged slow bleeding.  For example: peptic ulcers, worms, piles, long-term pain medication etc. can also cause iron deficiency anemia.

 Symptoms:-

Symptoms may include pale eyes, face, weakness, lethargy, dizziness, nausea, headache, blurred vision, mouth sores, difficulty swallowing.  If anemia is high, it can cause shortness of breath, chest pain and even heart failure.

 Examination:-

Anemia is diagnosed only by CBC blood test.  Serum iron and serum ferritin are tested for iron levels.  A type of test called TIBC is also done.

 treatment:-

✔Treatment for any type of anemia depends on the cause behind the anemia.

In iron deficiency anemia, the cause of iron deficiency must first be ascertained.  Iron supplementation is the main treatment for malnutrition.  Iron-rich foods are also recommended.  Iron is rich in green leafy vegetables, green leafy vegetables, spinach, beans and bean seeds, raw bananas, seafood, liver, gills, and beef.  Iron supplements are given in two ways.  In tablet and capsule form for oral administration, as intravenous injection.  In which way the patient will take it, the doctor will advise after understanding the patient's condition.  Peptic ulcer, excessive menstruation, piles should be treated.  Deworming should be done regularly.

A major threat to safe motherhood in the Bangladeshi context is iron deficiency anemia.  But the solution is very simple.  Just need a little awareness.
